CBA is a non-governmental organization whose mandate is to assist the Lesotho Government on five thematic areas HIV and AIDS, Livelihoods, Economic Empowerment, Food Security and Humanitarian Relief.
Executive Director
Job Purpose
The role of the Executive Director at CBA involves leadership responsibilities across multiple areas such as strategic management, programme development and execution, resource mobilization, monitoring and evaluation, to ensure financial sustainability, maintain relationships with donors and stakeholders, and guide the organization toward achieving its mission. The position reports directly to CBA Board.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee operations of the organization, providing executive direction for program strategies and efficiencies, compliance, and quality assurance, ensuring alignment with CBA’s vision and mission.
- Secure funding from various sources (government, multilateral agencies, foundations, private sector) ensuring viable funding pipelines and creating partnerships to maintain and grow organizational capacity
- Oversee the design and delivery of programs across multiple sectors, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and the CBA strategic plan.
- Oversee financial planning, asset management, and procurement to ensure organizational efficiency and compliance with budgets.
- Maintain relationships with existing funders, ensuring compliance with their requirements and securing continued support.
- Ensure that CBA’s programs are effectively managed, monitored, and evaluated to deliver measurable impacts.
- Ensure that accurate financial reports and supporting documents for funders are prepared as outlined in funding agreements.
- Oversee the implementation of staff performance management system, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
- Provides leadership to senior management and ensure appropriate support to all departments.
- Maintain a strong work culture that attracts and retains people while driving the organization’s mission.
- Ensure the development and implementation of annual work plans including programme goals and measurable outcomes consistent with CBA strategic plan and standards.
- Taking charge of fundraising efforts and development by identifying and fostering relationships with potential donors, designing fundraising strategies, and securing financial resources to support these.
- Serve as the face of the organization and participate in external events to increase visibility, credibility, market brand, and develop strategic partnerships with the Government, NGOs, and private sectors to further increase community awareness and expand CBA programs.
- Act as Secretary to CBA Board and liaise with the Board to manage governance and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
- Prepare strategic and management reports for Board and Annual General Meetings timely and communicates with the Board, donors, government, and other key actors regarding programmes productivity and progress.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Master’s degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Public Administration, or a related field.
- Certification in non-profit management or relevant leadership programs would be an advantage.
- Minimum of 10 years in senior management experience, preferably in an NGO or international development organization.
- Extensive experience in fundraising, grant writing, marketing and proposal development.
- Knowledge of leadership and management principles for non-profit organizations
- Proven success working with a board of directors
- Entrepreneurial mind-set, with innovative approach to business planning
- Dynamic and charismatic team player who enjoys being the public face of an organization
- Proven track record of successfully managing multi-sector programs, especially in Natural Resource Management, Women’s Empowerment, and HIV/AIDS sectors.
