JOB TITLE : SENIOR BUSINESS ANALYST

JOB SUMMARY
The incumbent is responsible for coordination of Information Technology cadre and support IT Department in the provision of Information Technology strategic direction and advisories to the Commission.
Main duties
1. Business processes analysis for development of IEC Computer Systems
¬ Conduct feasibility studies for system proposals when the need arises.
¬ Develops and maintains Information Technology standards and procedures to ensure maximum efficiency.
¬ Develops, maintain and update Information Technology policies.
¬ Works closely with sectional heads for the development and automation of sectional business processes.
¬ Develops new systems and applications interfaces without breaching of systems and applications security and integrity.
2. Business processes analysis for appraisal and upgrading of new and existing systems
¬ Records and attend to staff functional requirements on different systems.
¬ Collects and analyse user needs to provide recommendations and solutions to improve the Commission’s business strategies.
¬ Identifies, researches, and resolves interface and integrity problems, working with outside vendors/technical support as needed, and documents, tracks and monitors problems to ensure a timely resolution.
¬ Ensures that all users possess requisite skill levels to perform their duties through internal and external training.
¬ Assists other departments in their use of IT related technology. For example, the production of the IEC newsletter, Presentations, Publicity and so on.
¬ Manages available resources as efficiently as possible to ensure the smooth running of Development Operations.
3. Business processes analysis for coordination and integration of different systems and applications
¬ Monitors and reports monthly status on all development operations to the IT Manager.
¬ Ensures operation of systems and applications equipment by developing preventive maintenance procedures; following vendor’s instructions; troubleshooting any system or applications malfunctioning.
¬ Develops procedures for data acquisitions for the maintenance and updating of all applications.
¬ Performs security checks and audits on systems and applications.
¬ Implements systems and applications development policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of all IT infrastructure.
¬ Confirms systems and applications requirements by studying user requirements.
¬ Determines changes in physical IT infrastructure.
4. Staff development
¬ Emancipates users on the use of new applications and information technologies.
¬ Trains staff on the use of the IEC’s standard software applications/applications s, as needed.
¬ Trains staff to perform data entry and oversees adherence to the data entry processes.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education and Training
B. Eng. in Computer Systems and Networks or equivalent plus one years’ experience working in a development environment in a senior position
Or
B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent with at least two – year working experience in a networked applications environment
Applicants with experience in Mobile Registration Units (MRUs) or remote data collection will have an added advantage or Certification in Oracle, Cisco, Cobit or any other IT related professional certificated.
