Job Summary

The Employee Benefits Sales Consultant works under the direction of the Employee Benefits Accounts Executive. He/she is tasked with soliciting, developing, marketing, and acquiring and maintaining new business in accordance with applicable regulations for all product lines. He/she works closely with the EB Accounts Executive to handle client needs.

DUTIES

Duties of this role include:

  • Compiling lists of prospective clients to provide leads for additional business.
  • Contacting and qualifying prospective clients and explaining features and merits of policies offered, recommending amount and type of coverage based on analysis of prospect’s circumstances.
  • Providing direction to Sales Agents and all junior staff for selected accounts.
  • Reviewing overall financials with EB Accounts Executive.
  • Participating in renewal activities with EB Accounts Executive.
  • Calling policyholders to deliver and explain policies, suggesting additions or changes in insurance benefits programmes.
  • Assisting policyholders to settle insurance claims in the event of losses.
  • Anticipate future needs and call established clients to renew and upgrade funds.
  • Develop long-term relationships with clients and carrier representatives.
  • Meet or exceed sales budget/goals.
  • Adhere to agency policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.
  • Participate in seminars and classes for skill and knowledge development.
  • Supervise EB consultants and retail sales agents.
  •  

Qualifications and Experience 

To perform this job successfully, the successful candidate must have the following qualifications and experience:

  • BCom in Investment Management and Financial planning.
  • A minimum of two years related experience and or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A Certificate of Proficiency in Long Term Insurance will be an added advantage.

Skills

  • Computer Skills – Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Certificates/Licenses/Registrations – A valid driver’s license (manual transmission) with a minimum of two years driving experience.
