The Revenue Services Lesotho was established by an Act of Parliament in 2001 and became operational in 2003. POSITION : Head Legal (1)
SUMMARY OF PURPOSE
Responsible for provision of strategic direction to the Legal Department through professional legal advisory services, simplified legislation and consistent application of revenue laws to improve voluntary compliance and reduce cost of collection:
Key Responsibilities:
Set Legal Department strategic direction towards ensuring its integration with the organizational strategic planning process in collaboration with executive leadership and business partners.
Lead the process of developing and implementing Legal Departmental plans to ensure alignment and coordination with the strategic direction taken by the entire organization.
Maintain collaborative leadership within the Legal Department towards achievement of staff engagement and motivation.
Advice EXCO on litigation instituted by or against the Revenue Services which may significantly affect or impact on the operations of RSL.
Provide leadership for effective legal services in general law including labor and industrial relations, revenue laws, agreements, contracts and memorandums of understanding.
Advise the RSL on all legislative queries, amendments, reviews and repeals that may be necessary in line with general State policy.
Coordinate Revenue Services’ legal matters with Government Ministries and other agencies, regional and international organizations.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Master’s Degree in Law
Plus
Five (5) years’ experience in a Legal environment, (3) years of which should be in a management position.
OR
LLB
Plus
Seven (7) years’ experience in a Legal environment, (5) years of which should be in a management position.
