Director of Operations Department (Five-year fixed-term contract): Ref: DOD

Career Opportunity
The Department of Operations implements the Bank functions of (i) issuing, managing, and redeeming the currency of the Kingdom of Lesotho and (ii) being the banker to the Government of Lesotho (GoL).

The Bank is looking for a dynamic, solid and proven leader to effectively and efficiently manage these core areas of its statutory functions.

Areas of responsibility include:

Ensure the integrity, availability, and sufficiency of the Maloti banknotes and coins in the Kingdom of Lesotho.
Maintain the professional and beneficial bank-client relationship between the Bank and the GoL.
Lead, direct and manage the Department through prudent resources (people, capital & financial) management.
Provide assurance to the Bank’s Management and Board of Directors on management of risks and system of controls.

The Candidate will be required to:

Avail currency to the banking community for distribution to the rest of the economy.
Maintain an efficient process flow of currency management from issuance to redemption.
Oversee the banking operations and resultant services to the GoL and the Bank.
Nurture and maintain a working relationship through use of SLAs with the Treasury Department of the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning on behalf of the GoL.
Identify and assess risks associated with the work of the Department and put in place a robust system of internal controls towards their continued mitigation.
Cooperate with and participate in the Bank’s cross-functional activities as the member of Executive Management

Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Banking, or related field;
Or
CA or CIMA or equivalent professional qualification
Plus
A minimum experience of ten (10) years in a similar environment, five (5) years of which at senior management level
