Partners In Health is the implementer under the TB Elimination project. The project is aimed at accelerating the reduction in TB incidences and mortality, improve access to highly sensitive and rapid diagnostics, ensure access to quality-assured and patient-centered care and contribute to the reduction of catastrophic costs.
To realize this great mission, PIH-Lesotho has a goal to screen everybody, test all presumptive TB clients, initiate all newly diagnosed TB patients, conduct contact tracing, test all the contacts and initiate all eligible clients on TB preventive Therapy. PIH Lesotho will implement innovative community and facility based interventions in Lebakeng, Tlhanyaku, Bobete, Methalaneng, Manamaneng and in the entire district of Mohale’s Hoek district.

Position Overview:
Partners In Health is Launching a TB Elimination project with robust TB screening, Testing, contact tracing, and initiation of treatment at community and facility levels. PIHL will use a mobile van to reach various communities for active TB search, treatment, and prevention approaches in the TB elimination activity. The Medical officer is responsible for overseeing the clinical activities of TB screening, testing,
contact tracing, and putting TB patients into treatment. Additionally, the medical officer will ensure the delivery of quality TB health services in the mobile clinic while upholding medical ethics, patient confidentiality, and standards of professionalism.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- To provide day-to-day high-quality management and care of patients on the TB continuum of care at Mohale’s Hoek district in Mobile track.
- Provide management of people diagnosed with TB during an outreach activity
- Ensure enrolment of negative TB patients into TB preventive therapy
- Ensure linkage of TB patients diagnosed in the community to the nearest health facility
- Assist in the tracking of not-linked TB patients diagnosed at community to health facility
- Ensure quality of treatment, prescription, and initiation, based on national treatment guidelines
- To provide day-to-day high-quality TB care along the continuum of patient care at the mobile clinic.
- Participate in district PIH team performance review meetings
- Supervise and oversee the Mobile Clinic team daily
- Provide appropriate referral linkage to the next level of care to DRTB patients
- Support and participate in all training organized by PIH-Lesotho for the district project team.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the health reform program lead
- Medical degree (MD)
- Minimum of three (3) years of clinical experience
- Postgraduate degree in Public health or Global Health is an added advantage
- Minimum one year of experience working on TB projects
- Current registration in good standing with the Lesotho Medical Council
- Demonstrate a dedication to serving marginalized groups, such as TB patients;
- Able to function effectively in a team setting;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong interpersonal skills;
- Proficiency in English and Sesotho (verbal and written)
