Job Title: Custodial Gardener

About Us: At the American International School of Lesotho (AISL), we are dedicated to creating a nurturing and engaging environment for our students. We believe that a clean, safe, and vibrant school is essential for learning and growth. We are currently seeking a dedicated Custodial Gardener to join our team and help maintain our facilities and grounds.


Key Responsibilities: This is one position that will have both custodial and gardening responsibilities.

Custodial Duties:

  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance of classrooms, restrooms, and common areas.
  • Ensure the school is kept clean, organized, free of hazards, and hygienic for students and staff.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Assist with setting up and taking down furniture for events and activities.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment for students and staff.

Gardening Duties:

  • Care for and maintain school gardens daily, including planting, weeding, watering, and pruning; and at the
    residential setting as assigned.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining outdoor learning spaces.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement gardening projects.
  • Monitor the health of plants and report any pest or disease issues.
  • Assist with seasonal planting of flowers, herbs, fruits and vegetables, and harvesting activities.
  • Maintain and care for gardening equipment.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in custodial work and/or gardening preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills, particularly with students, staff, and families.
  • Physical ability to perform lifting, bending, and outdoor tasks in varying weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of plants, and gardening techniques.
