Founded in Lesotho in 2015, MFDF is a local youth-led organization with a presence in health facilities and communities across Lesotho and a membership of over 5,000 youth. Mosepele’s voice resonates in communities and on national platforms, representing Basotho youth in critical discussions and initiatives. MFDF engages young people as critical decision-makers and participants in the design, delivery, and monitoring of health and socio-economic services.

Guided by the Lesotho National Youth Policy, MFDF represent Basotho youth nationally, including at Lesotho Country Coordinating Mechanisms (LCCM) and PEPFAR COP meetings.

MFDF has a proven track record in executing impactful projects, including PEPFAR Community Lead Monitoring, The Global Fund’s Her Voice Fund, Global Fund for Children’s Mental Health etc.

MFDF is looking for suitable candidates for the following positions:

Job Title: Youth Advisor x1

Project: Bokamoso Project

Organization: Mosepele Foundation Development Forum (MFDF)

Location: Bokamoso Co-Location Office(s)

Reports to: Project Director or Senior Manager

Position Type: Full-Time

Overview:

The Youth Advisor will play a vital role in the BOKAMOSO project. This role involves providing strategic guidance and oversight to ensure that the project effectively addresses the needs of youth, particularly through the establishment and support of a Youth Steering Committee. The Youth Advisor will integrate a youth-focused perspective across all aspects of the project, ensuring that interventions are relevant, inclusive, and responsive to the needs of young people.

Key Responsibilities:

Establishment and Support of Youth Steering Committee:

  • Lead the formation and operationalization of the Youth Steering Committee (YSC), ensuring it includes diverse and representative youth participants.
  • Facilitate regular meetings and activities of the YSC, providing guidance and support to ensure its effective functioning.
  • Collaborate with YSC members to identify and prioritize youth-related issues, needs, and recommendations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to integrate YSC feedback into project planning and decision-making.
  • Youth Engagement and Advocacy:

  • Advocate for the inclusion of youth perspectives in all project activities and decision-making processes.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance youth engagement and participation in the DREAMS and OVC programs.
  • Support the design and delivery of youth-focused interventions and activities that address the needs and aspirations of adolescents and young people.
  • Youth Lens Integration:

  • Ensure that all project components, including planning, implementation, and evaluation, incorporate a youth perspective.
  • Provide technical guidance to project teams on best practices for engaging and supporting youth in program activities.
  • Conduct assessments and research to understand youth needs and trends, and use this information to inform program strategies and interventions.
  • Capacity Building and Training:

  • Develop and deliver training programs for project staff, partners, and YSC members on youth engagement, advocacy, and best practices.
  • Build the capacity of YSC members and other youth stakeholders to effectively contribute to and influence the project.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of youth-related interventions and activities, ensuring they meet project goals and objectives.
  • Collect and analyze data on youth participation, satisfaction, and outcomes to inform program improvements.
  • Prepare and present reports on youth engagement and outcomes for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaboration and Partnership:

  • Work closely with community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to strengthen youth support networks and resources.
  • Foster partnerships with local youth organizations, educational institutions, and other relevant entities to enhance project impact.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance

  • Ensure that all activities and interventions comply with USAID regulations, project guidelines, and local laws.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance processes to maintain high standards of program delivery and youth engagement.
  • Strategic Planning and Development:

  • Contribute to the strategic planning and development of project activities, ensuring they align with youth priorities and needs.
  • Identify and address emerging challenges and opportunities related to youth engagement and support.
  • Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Education, Youth Development, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
    • Experience: At least 5 years of experience in youth development, program management, or related fields, with a focus on health, education, or social services. Experience in establishing and managing youth committees or advisory groups is highly desirable.
    • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of youth development issues, particularly related to HIV/AIDS, OVC, and community engagement.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups.
    • Proven experience in designing and implementing youth-focused programs and interventions.
    • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
    • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
    • Language: Proficiency in English is required. Additional language skills relevant to the project location are advantageous.
