THOMAS MOFOLO LIBRARY
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the position of a Librarian at the National University of Lesotho. The successful candidate will be based at IEMS Campus of National University of Lesotho as part of the professional Library Staff cadre in the Client Access, Training and User Support (CATUS) Department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Master’s Degree in Library and Information Studies or related field
A minimum of two years post qualification in a library environment
Competency in ICT tools, practices, and their applications.
Knowledge of online databases and integrated library systems
Familiarity with open and distance learning mode of delivery
Ability to work independently and in a team
Excellent oral and communication skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff and co-workers and to deal patiently, tactfully and effectively with students and other library users
Willingness to work on weekends, holidays and evenings
AGE: Interested candidate should be in the range of 25-55 years DUTIES
To supervise all operations taking place in the IEMS Library
To maintain order, adherence to regulations and good conduct in the library
To select, organize and develop collections for IEMS
To provide and promote reference and information services to patrons at IEMS
Participate in Information Literacy lessons to students and staff
To collaborate with partners in effectively running Mobile Library service
To support research and learning as a Subject Librarian
To promote and provide reference and information services to all library patrons;
To develop and foster direct and effective communication between the library and the IEMS academic departments on all library services
To provide good public relations inside and outside the library
As the representative of the University Librarian, serve in a variety of Boards, Committees and Commissions at IEMS
Ensure security of the library, cleanliness, general safety and welfare of the library clients
To assist Head, CATUS in the development of guidelines, policies and procedures for CATUS
May, on rotational basis, act in the absence of the Head of Department
Perform any other duties assigned from time to time
RENUMERATION
The University offers salaries and benefits commensurate with qualifications and experience.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE
Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable terms for Locals, and two Years’ Contract for Non-Locals
