Job Purpose
To develop and implement the functional and business strategy by aligning the dififferent units in the business to ensure growth (people; finances; technology) and to assume overall accountability for the direction; market positioning; sustainable performance; competitiveness and transformation of the Function; and develop; integrate; institutionalise the strategy; leadership; products; solutions; initiatives; channels; people; process; culture; management and systems.
Job Responsibilities- Meet profit & cost targets without compromising service delivery or long-term growth / sustainability, by making decisions that will deliver both immediate and long-standing results thus ensuring sustainabilty.
- Meet and sustain business growth, market share & revenue targets through crafting proper business plans ahead of time (putting in place strategies that can be implemented and managed effectively).
- Achieve results in ways that contribute to making Nedbank successful to grow faster than competitors,thus ensuring market-share growth.
- Determine, agree and set budget and financial targets with the business by building from the micro market level-up opportunities.
- Determine drivers and initiatives to meet financial goals and action plans to ensure sustainability by aligning the KPIs to the strategic initiatives.
- Analyse and utilise financial MIS to drive strategy and decisions.
- Design budgets and business unit plans to satisfy key stakeholders through developing sound business cases.
- Build mutually rewarding relationships with clients through understanding and meeting their needs, by creating client value propositions relevant to the target audience and regularly meeting those clients’ expectations.
- Build strong working relationships with Managing Executives, other senior executives, Boards, peers & direct reports to enhance business performance by producing effective early key risk areas and give accurate reporting.
- Maintain relationships with direct reports & employees at all levels to produce effective early-warning systems by ensuring enough time is allocated for one-on-one and group interactions.
- Develop constructive & productive relationships with governance bodies, empowerment partners, regulators & communities to earn their trust and enhance Nedbank’s reputation by attending business meetings.
- Negotiate fees and service level agreements with product providers by continuous engagements.
- Manage Nedbank governance frameworks relating to product offering.
- Drive synergies within Bancassurance and identify future opportunities in terms of sales and products and industry networking – making sure one plays an effective role in the future of the industry.
- Getting the support of JV partners and external key stakeholders to collaborate in achieving the Nedbank business objectives.
- Optimise and invest in key technology, systems and processes continuously to drive productivity and efficiencies.
- Ensure business-wide policy, brand & other standards, regulatory & governance compliance by chairing Enterprise Risk & Compliance meetings and identify risks arising from business projects.
- Determine & drive strategy & initiatives to meet ongoing legislative & compliance requirements like FAIS, treating customers fairly (TCF), Retail Distribution Review (RDR).
- Manage performance of direct reports and hold them accountable for managing the performance of their reports by taking corrective action as required, recognising and rewarding teams.
- Empower teams to make decisions and recommend tailored solutions to business unit specific problems, through coaching and mentoring practices.
- Develop and implement a strategy to build a differentiated culture of improvement and innovation by analysing relevant surveys and information.
- Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
Post-graduate qualification in Economics, IT, Business Management. MBA will be also ideal.
