Overview

The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho (BCMCFL), is the result of a public-private partnership between Baylor College of Medicine International Paediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI) and the Government of Lesotho, and is a legal, non-profit/tax exempt organization registered in Lesotho. BCMCFL provides free paediatric and family-centred HIV and tuberculosis prevention, care, treatment and support, serving thousands of children and families affected by HIV, TB, or other child health conditions.

Comprehensive High Impact Community Based HIV Prevention, Testing and Treatment Initiation for Sustained Epidemic Control in Lesotho under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (CoHip SEC) is a five-year CDC funded activity that will be implemented by BCMCFL to provide comprehensive and evidence-based community HIV prevention, testing and treatment initiation for the general population and other at-risk groups such as youth, men, migrant and factory workers, as well as building capacity of local organizations, civil society organizations and community systems in implementing data-driven programming. The project is implemented in Berea, Leribe, Quthing, and Qacha’s Nek Districts.

BCMCFL is looking for qualified candidates to fill in the following positions available on a full-time, Fixed-Term Contract basis.

Position: District Manager *1 Based at: Quthing

Duties and ResponsibilitiesPosition Overview:

The District Manager will report to Project Manager and will coordinate the community nurses and professional counsellors
providing community-based health and psychosocial support services. To oversee testing, care and treatment and prevention
activities of the project within the district.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Provide mentorship and coaching for the project team within the district on testing, care and treatment and prevention activities.
  • Ensure that project activities within the district go according to the project work plan.
  • Coordinate project activities within the district and liaise with the district health management team and community outreach nurses and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare monthly and relevant progress reports by district highlighting achievements, challenges and recommendations to improve performance for in direct communication with the managers.
  • Reports to the HTS/Care and treatment and prevention managers.
  • Provide support to the psychosocial support teams in the project and follow their activities.
  • Do any other related duties as may be assigned by your supervisor from time to time.
  • Educational Qualifications, Work Experience and Key Competencies
  • A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Nursing, Pastoral Care and Counselling or Social Worker.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ HIV program experience.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of TB and HIV, testing, care and treatment policies and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of facility and community project implementation of care and treatment activities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office packages (word, excel, outlook and PowerPoint).
  • Dedicated team player with demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic team in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines with competing activities.
  • Ability to apply independent judgment and knowledge.
  • Excellent time management and proven analytical and problem-solving ability.
