The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Lesotho (BCMCFL), is the result of a public-private partnership between Baylor College of Medicine International Paediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI) and the Government of Lesotho, and is a legal, non-profit/tax exempt organization registered in Lesotho. BCMCFL provides free paediatric and family-centred HIV and tuberculosis prevention, care, treatment and support, serving thousands of children and families affected by HIV, TB, or other child health conditions.

Comprehensive High Impact Community Based HIV Prevention, Testing and Treatment Initiation for Sustained Epidemic Control in Lesotho under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (CoHip SEC) is a five-year CDC funded activity that will be implemented by BCMCFL to provide comprehensive and evidence-based community HIV prevention, testing and treatment initiation for the general population and other at-risk groups such as youth, men, migrant and factory workers, as well as building capacity of local organizations, civil society organizations and community systems in implementing data-driven programming. The project is implemented in Berea, Leribe, Quthing, and Qacha’s Nek Districts.

BCMCFL is looking for qualified candidates to fill in the following positions available on a full-time, Fixed-Term Contract basis.

Position: Communication Officer *1 Based at Maseru

Duties and ResponsibilitiesPosition Overview:

The purpose of this position is to oversee the design and implementation of BCMCFL’s communication activities, including both branded and generic media and interpersonal communication. This position is a detail-oriented creative-thinker and multi- tasker who can quickly conceptualize, design, illustrate and/or produce communications and marketing outputs
for all media platforms, for both internal and external audiences. The Communication Officer is responsible for developing
strategic communications campaigns that support all programmatic implementation and provide support to the MOH
in creative design and marketing standards and practices. This position will work collaboratively with the Programs team; and coordinate all Marketing & Communications department operations and admin.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Oversee and implement communications and marketing activities to successfully develop a comprehensive, communications and marketing strategies for BCMCFL brand and its Programs.
  • Writing/copyediting press releases, news articles and content marketing for BCMCFL’s newsletter as well as external media outlet;
  • Design and execute end-to-end marketing campaigns that deliver results for BCMCFL programs measured by
    client enrolments, products and service awareness, knowledge, and uptake; as well as results for BCMCFL brand measured by Brand consideration, reputation and visibility.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and branding for BCMCFL across all media channels, including digital content assets and channels: BCMCFL websites, social media pages, and others.
  • Assisting in creating visual products based on text- based knowledge products and other strategic evidence (i.e., static/kinetic infographic, PSA video, vox pop video, etc);
  • Translate and adapt developed concepts into print and digital collateral (including outdoor and indoor signage, emails, social media graphics, donor materials, print and digital advertisements, partner templates, and other collateral)
  • Liaise with Program Heads to develop concepts for publication and all campaign collateral and special projects.
  • Create files that meet file specifications requirements suitable for each type of project communication
  • Conceptualize and design quality print and digital marketing materials leveraging clean typography and strategic visual communication skills.
  • Be a responsive and efficient team member with the ability to organize and support multiple projects that meet BCMCFL Marketing and Communications quality/brand standards and deadlines.
  • Develop relationships with private corporations to secure coverage for BCMCFL communications initiatives.
  • Track analytics and create reports detailing successes and failures of communications campaigns.
  • Maintain digital media archives including photos and videos.
  • Do any other related duties as may assigned by your supervisor from time to time.
  • Educational Qualifications, Work Experience and Key Competencies
  • Degree in Marketing, Journalism, Communication, or related field.
  • At least 2 years relevant experience in commercial marketing, social marketing, or communication.
  • Experience working for NGO preferred.
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills.
  • Advanced working knowledge of all Creative Suite design software; fluency in Adobe Creative Suite with proven ability to quickly learn and assimilate new software.
  • Familiarity and practical experience with both interpersonal communication and mass media approaches.
  • Clear understanding of a) current best practices in mass media and b) different types of IPC programming strongly preferred.
