Position: Processing Shift Supervisor
Job Description/Purpose
PURPOSE: Responsible for overseeing the daily processing operations for the shift, ensuring efficient production while maintaining product quality, safety, and compliance standards.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Complete and submit daily shift reports, documenting production data, quality checks and any incidents or issues
• Track and manage the inventory of materials needed for processing, ensuring sufficient supplies for uninterrupted operations.
• Ensure that fish processing meets quality and specifications standards, monitoring for consistent product quality and addressing any deviations.
• Lead and manage the processing team on shift, delegating tasks and monitoring performance to meet production goals
• Interactions with the Processing Manager to continually develop, improve, implement, and maintain processing techniques that
are compliant to international best management practice, HACCP, required international certification and aligned with the Food Safety Culture at Sanlei
• Enforce health and safety guidelines, ensuring that employees follow proper protocols and wear PPE.
• Train team members on safety practices, operational procedures, and quality standards to ensure a skilled workforce.
• Produce best quality product, continually strive to improve product quality, record product quality and report thereof.
Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma in Food Technology or Food Science or Management, or relevant qualification
- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in a quality control and/or food processing environment
- In depth understanding of HACCP protocols
- Working experience with food processing or experience in supervisory or management position
Skills competencies & requirements
- Certificate in FSSC Version 5 conversion is an advantage
- FSSC 22000 Food safety systems certification auditing is an advantage
- Proficiency in MS Office Suit and experience with inventory management systems Accountability.
- Exceptional record keeping skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Observant.
- Integrity and honesty.
- Fluency in English and Sesotho, written and spoken.
- Willing and able to work in ALL weather conditions.
- Vibrant and energetic, able to inspire a team
- Communicate clearly with all members of the team from senior management to general workers
