Position: Applications Manager
Department: Billing and IS: Technical
Reports To: Head Billing and Information Systems
Main Purpose:
To manage and maintain the organization’s portfolio of applications, ensuring they are aligned with business objectives and strategies, and meet the needs of end-users. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams, including IT, product management, and business stakeholders, to ensure applications are properly maintained, supported, and upgraded as needed.
Major Tasks:
- Manages the entire lifecycle of applications, from implementation and maintenance to upgrades and sunsetting.
- Works with cross-functional teams to identify application requirements and prioritize maintenance and support activities.
- Ensures applications are properly documented, maintained, and comply with relevant regulations and industry standards.
- Monitors application performance and address any issues that arise, working with IT and vendor support teams as needed, and implementing improvements to enhance user experience and efficiency;
- Liaises with external vendors and service providers for the specification, supply, customization and operation of platforms;
- Defines and implement service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure application performance and user satisfaction
- Implements, administrates and supports cost-effective internal IT platforms
- Ensures compliance to legal requirements and internal regulation with respect to IT
- Stays up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and assess their potential impact on the organization’s application landscape.
Educational Qualifications and Related Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
- At least 5 years of experience in Applications Management, with at least 3 years in a supervisory/managerial role
Knowledge Areas & Competencies:
- Software Development
- Database Management
- Information Systems controls
- Systems security
- Familiarity with IT service management (ITSM) frameworks, such as ITIL
- Experience managing vendor relationships and contracts
- Clear verbal and written communication and ability to prepare reports
- Ability to plan and organise in line with job requirements
- Ability to analyse and solve work related problems to achieve the correct outcomes
- Ability to interact, negotiate (where applicable) and achieve targets
- Ability to manage and develop staff
