VACANCY – NURSE COORDINATOR

SolidarMed is a leading non-profit organization working to improve the health care of 2.5 million people in Lesotho, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Working with national partners to strengthen health systems and community capacities, we are committed to scientific evidence and policy dialogue both as foundations and objectives of our work.

We are looking for an exceptional and motivated Coordinator on HIV Drug Resistance to ensure the successful implementation of the network and delivery of the intended outputs as outlined in the project plan, including but not limited to the below tasks and responsibilities.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities:

Implementation network:

  • Supporting the creation of standardised training materials on HIV drug resistance in Lesotho
  • Organisation of training sessions on HIV drug resistance for healthcare professionals
  • Liaison with patient representatives and The Hub on the creation of communication material on HIV drug resistance for people living with HIV.
  • Liaison with ART Advisory Committees and HIV care providers to improve their workflow and allow for more efficient handling of patient cases.
  • Coordinating online case discussions on HIV drug resistance with international experts
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of a national database on HIV drug resistance tests with input from the HIV and AIDS Programme, district ART advisory committees, the NAAC, and HIV care providers in collaboration with the National Reference Laboratories and the VICONEL database team.
  • Coordinating efforts between the Ministry of Health and SolidarMed relating to HIV drug resistance
  • Ensure compliance with national guidelines during all steps of the project.
  • Work closely with the core team members involved in the implementation network at SolidarMed, the National HIV and AIDS Programme and the National Reference Laboratories
  • Actively contribute to the successful creation of the network by providing inputs and addressing problems/challenges encountered with the protocol and its implementation.

Qualifications & Required Experience

  • Bachelors ’s Degree in General Nursing & Midwifery and 5 years’ experience in HIV/AIDS management.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Sound computer literacy, communication skills, report writing skills, ability to work under pressure, basic knowledge of research principles, sound knowledge or willingness to learn on good clinical practices on conducting clinical trails.
  • Excellent oral and written English, including report writing and presentation skills.
  • Fluent in Sesotho is advantageous.
  • Positive overview in a complex working environment, good interpersonal skills.
  • Strong understanding of HIV/AIDS healthcare protocols and drug resistance issues.
  • Experience working with health databases and handling confidential patient information is advantageous.
  • Excellent coordination and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Fluency in English and proficiency in Sesotho.

Added advantage.

  • Work experience of conducting research or willingness to work in a research setting.
  • Proven experience in project management/coordination, particularly in health-related fields.
