Position: Registered Nurse Midwife (3)
Grade: F
Responsible to: CDNS
Job Summary: The incumbent shall be engaged in provision and coordination of patients’ care activities. She/he will be responsible for provision of midwifery services. She/he will be responsible in maintaining a sterile environment and assisting with equipment during surgery in the operating theatre.
Duties:
• Provision of patient care through nursing process.
• Upkeep of medical and other ward equipment and supplies.
• Ensures family involvement concerning their patients’ health problems.
• Delegates and supervises the junior staff for implementation of the plans.
• Carries out nursing care procedures.
• Ensure documentation of all nursing activities
• Liaise with the relevant departments to ensure comprehensive delivery of care.
• Identifies patients’ problems which need medical attention and reports to the Medical Officer for action.
• Monitors progress of women in labour and record findings.
• Reports any deviations from normal labour to the Medical Officer for appropriate action.
• Conducts the delivery and assist the surgeon in operating theatre.
• Ensures that the aseptic technique is maintained in operating theatre.
• Provides immediate care of the newborn and postpartum care.
• Ensures safety of both the mother and the baby.
• Offers postpartum family planning services and immunisations to newborns.

Job Requirements:
• Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery
• Up to date registration with the Lesotho Nursing Council
