Supervises: Youth Mentors 

Position Type: Full-Time

Overview:

The DREAMS Ambassador is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day implementation of the DREAMS (Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored, and Safe) program activities under the BOKAMOSO project. Reporting to the DREAMS Manager, this role will ensure that program interventions are delivered effectively and that DREAMS Ambassadors are supported in their roles. The DREAMS Ambassador will work to enhance program impact, coordinate with stakeholders, and ensure that all activities align with USAID guidelines and project objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Implementation:

  • Supervise the delivery of DREAMS program activities, ensuring they are carried out as planned and meet the quality standards.
  • Monitor and support the implementation of interventions aimed at reducing HIV incidence among adolescent girls and young women.
  • Supervision and Team Management:

  • Manage and support a team of Youth Mentors, providing direction, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, addressing any issues or conflicts that arise within the team.
  • Ensure that Youth Mentors have the necessary resources and support to effectively carry out their responsibilities.
  • Training and Capacity Building:

  • Conduct training sessions for Youth Mentors on program protocols, best practices, and new developments.
  • Identify and address training needs to enhance the skills and effectiveness of the team.
  • Stakeholder Coordination:

  • Liaise with local community organizations, health facilities, and other stakeholders to coordinate program activities and enhance community engagement.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration between the DREAMS team and other program partners.
  • Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Track and assess the progress of program activities, ensuring they are in line with project goals and objectives.
  • Collect and analyze data on program outcomes and challenges, and prepare regular reports for the DREAMS Manager.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations for program improvements based on monitoring and evaluation findings.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure that all program activities comply with USAID regulations, project agreements, and local laws.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure high standards in program delivery.
  • Administrative Duties:

  • Assist in the preparation of work plans, budgets, and reports related to program activities.
  • Manage the logistics of program implementation, including coordinating events and workshops.
  • Strategic Input:

  • Contribute to the development of strategies and action plans to address emerging challenges and opportunities within the program.
  • Support the DREAMS Manager in planning and implementing program improvements and innovations.
  • Qualifications:

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field. 
    • Experience: At least 3 years of experience in program management or field implementation, preferably in health or HIV/AIDS-related programs. Prior supervisory experience is highly desirable.
    • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and management skills, with experience supervising and supporting team members.
    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and stakeholders.
    • Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
    • Knowledge of USAID regulations and procedures is advantageous.
    • Language: Proficiency in English is required. Additional language skills relevant to the project location are beneficial.
