Company description
Lancers Inn is on the site of Trower’s Store, which was established in 1869. When the Gun War broke out in 1880, the two existing buildings were taken over by Sir Godfrey Lagden and Alfred Sterley, who renovated and expanded the buildings.
Mrs. Sterley later established a popular boarding house, which was combined with the neighbouring Lacey’s Hotel to later become Lancers Inn – named after 39 British Lancers killed during the Gun War.
Lancers Inn, soon a hive of local social activity and of the business community, also evolved into a launch pad for visitors to the Mountain Kingdom. It still is.
