Knight Piésold Southern Africa is growing and expanding into new projects, where we require a Resident Engineer to join our dynamic site team in Lesotho on a 12-month renewable contract basis.
Minimum requirements:
- BSc or BEng in Civil Engineering is required.
- Must be a Professional Registered Engineer (ECSA).
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in supervising and overseeing large-scale projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts, quality control, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- The Resident Engineer is responsible for the contract administration and construction monitoring/ supervision of the project.
- The incumbent is responsible and accountable for ensuring that the project is meeting its safety, environmental, technical, and quality standards and within the contract budget.
- Review Contract Documents and report any inconsistencies in the drawings and/or specifications.
- Actively participate in all pre-construction meetings, site visits and evaluate existing conditions to contract requirements and prepare comprehensive reports on job-related meetings.
- Receive and review pre-construction Engineering reports, as necessary.
- Review and approve Contractor’s submissions within contractual turnaround times.
- Ensure that works are executed safely and within acceptable environmental limits.
- Meet regularly with the Contractor to identify and resolve project-related issues, including interpretation of contract requirements.
- Review and evaluate contractor’s proposed progress schedule, and method statements, monitor contractor’s conformance to the schedule; recommend corrective action and request a revised schedule should a deviation occur.
- Supervise and/or perform construction inspection operations to assess and/or enforce compliance with contract requirements, if applicable.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports.
- Participate in commissioning activities.
- Actively ensure that young professionals receive the expected on-the-job training and experience as well as other inexperienced professionals.
- Encourage and mentor eligible Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Technologists, and Technicians to get their professional registration in their respective disciplines
