Introduction

Letšeng Diamonds (Pty) Ltd (“Letšeng”), a private company owned by Gem Diamonds Limited (“Gem”) (70%) and the Government of Lesotho (“GoL”) (30%) has insourced process function which consists of Plant Maintenance, Plant operation and Plant Procurement. As part of this insourcing, Letseng Diamonds is looking for suitable candidates for the position of Control Room Supervisor.

Duties & Responsibilities

Responsible for leading the computerized central control function to ensure the safe, secure, efficient and productive operation of the processing facilities. This job function requires detailed knowledge of the processing environment and involves operation of the SCADA and PLC systems, good verbal and written communication ability (for reports and for extensive radio communications) with operating and maintenance staff to ensure that productivity and efficiency targets are met. 

Desired Qualification, Experience, Skills & Competencies

COSC plus proven track record in metallurgical senior supervisory role

Proven track record in process operations, good leadership and communication ability with a minimum of 5 years processing plant experience with at least 2 years in a control room environment

Ability to control the plant operations through the effective use of the process control systems (field instrumentation, PLC’s and SCADA systems). 
Good verbal skills to communicate all central control requirements clearly with field operational and maintenance staff by two-way radio.
Monitors plant performance and controls, and ensures that all variables outside of required parameter limits are expediently remedied and variances reported.
Continuously analyze plant equipment performance. 
Monitors energy demand to ensure minimized maximum demand and low overall power usage. 
Liaises with the Final Recovery and other relevant stakeholders to ensure necessary downstream processing and any plant services such as process water supply and tailings & slimes disposal are available.
Perform administrative duties e.g. job card issuance, and recording of process performance data as required.
Promotes training and development of the plant operations team to ensure ongoing competence of staff and safe operations.  
Proficiency in data analysis and performance
