Mosepele Foundation Development Forum (MFDF)

Founded in Lesotho in 2015, MFDF is a local youth-led organization with a presence in health facilities and communities across Lesotho and a membership of over 5,000 youth. Mosepele’s voice resonates in communities and on national platforms, representing Basotho youth in critical discussions and initiatives. MFDF engages young people as critical decision-makers and participants in the design, delivery, and monitoring of health and socio-economic services.

Guided by the Lesotho National Youth Policy, MFDF represent Basotho youth nationally, including at Lesotho Country Coordinating Mechanisms (LCCM) and PEPFAR COP meetings.

MFDF has a proven track record in executing impactful projects, including PEPFAR Community Lead Monitoring, The Global Fund’s Her Voice Fund, Global Fund for Children’s Mental Health etc.

MFDF is looking for suitable candidates for the following positions:

Job Title: IT Assistant X1

Reports To: HR and Admin Manager

 

Position Overview

The IT Assistant will be responsible for managing and supporting the organization’s IT infrastructure, systems, and services. This role includes maintaining hardware and software systems, troubleshooting technical issues, ensuring network security, and providing technical support to staff. The IT Assistant will play a critical role in ensuring that the organization’s IT systems operate smoothly and efficiently.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • IT Support and Troubleshooting
  • Technical Assistance: Provide technical support to staff for hardware, software, and network issues. Assist with troubleshooting and resolving technical problems in a timely manner.

    Help Desk Management: Manage the help desk system, logging and tracking support requests, and ensuring that issues are resolved promptly.

    User Training: Train staff on IT systems and software, providing guidance on best practices and troubleshooting techniques.

     

  • System and Network Management
  • Hardware Maintenance: Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, including desktops, laptops, printers, and other peripherals. Perform routine hardware repairs and upgrades.

    Software Management: Install, update, and maintain software applications and operating systems. Ensure that software is licensed and compliant with organizational policies.

    Network Administration: Monitor and manage the organization’s network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points. Ensure network security and performance.

     

  • Security and Data Protection
  • Security Measures: Implement and monitor security measures to protect the organization’s IT systems from unauthorized access, viruses, and other threats.

    Data Backup: Manage data backup processes and ensure that backup procedures are in place and functioning properly. Perform regular data backups and test recovery processes.

    Incident Response: Respond to and manage IT security incidents and breaches. Implement corrective actions and report incidents as necessary.

     

    4 IT Infrastructure and Systems

    System Updates: Regularly update and patch IT systems and software to address vulnerabilities and ensure compatibility with new technologies.

    Infrastructure Management: Oversee the installation and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including servers, storage solutions, and network components.

    Vendor Management: Liaise with IT vendors and service providers to procure hardware, software, and services. Manage relationships and ensure the delivery of contracted services.

     

  • Documentation and Reporting
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation for IT systems, procedures, and configurations. Ensure that documentation is accessible and useful for troubleshooting and future reference.

    Reporting: Generate reports on IT system performance, support request metrics, and security incidents. Provide regular updates to the IT Manager or Director of IT.

     

  • Project Support and Implementation
  • Project Assistance: Support IT projects, including system upgrades, new software implementations, and network expansions. Assist with project planning, execution, and evaluation.

    Technology Evaluation: Evaluate new technologies and solutions to determine their suitability for the organization. Provide recommendations for technology improvements.

     

  • Website Management and Administration
  • Website Maintenance: Oversee the day-to-day management of the organization’s website, including content updates, design changes, and feature enhancements.

    Content Management: Update website content regularly to ensure it remains current, accurate, and relevant. Collaborate with internal teams to gather and publish content.

    Performance Monitoring: Monitor website performance metrics (e.g., load times, uptime, user behavior) and implement improvements to optimize user experience and website efficiency.

    Technical Support: Troubleshoot and resolve website issues, including broken links, functionality problems, and errors. Coordinate with external web developers or vendors if needed.

    Security: Implement and manage security measures to protect the website from cyber threats, including regular updates, patches, and backups. Monitor for potential security breaches and respond to incidents as necessary.

    Compliance: Ensure that the website complies with relevant regulations and standards, including accessibility requirements and data protection laws.




    Qualifications

    Education and Experience

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft Certified Professional) are preferred.

    Experience: At least 2-4 years of experience in IT support or network administration roles. Experience in a similar industry or organizational setting is advantageous.

    Skills and Competencies

    Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking principles. Experience with various operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and applications.

    Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.

    Communication: Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff and provide clear instructions and support.

    Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and handle time-sensitive issues.
