Banyan Global is a women-owned and managed international development consulting firm based in Washington, D.C. Banyan Global operates seamlessly across five practice areas: economic growth, gender and social inclusion (GSI), youth, health, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning.

Banyan Global is recruiting multiple GESI consultants to provide technical support for a Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) call order. The GESI consultants will support the technical implementation of tasks within the Call Order, including conducting secondary and primary research, coordinating meetings, and drafting report sections. These experts will contribute to problem analysis, program design, and program implementation.

The GSI experts must be an expert in one or more of the following as it relates to agriculture:

  • Political economy
  • Legal, regulatory, policy, and institutional reform
  • Entrepreneurship and business development services
  • Women’s labor force participation
  • Financial inclusion
  • Social inclusion (e.g. pro-poor analysis, vulnerable populations, etc.)
  • Monitoring and evaluation.

This position is open to host country national experts residing in Lesotho.

Responsibilities
  • Provide GESI technical support on MCC Call Order as required.
  • Conduct secondary data collection (literature review) as needed.
  • Conduct required primary data collection remotely or by traveling to the required countries.
  • Support GESI analysis, data analysis, and report writing.
  • Provide technical support to MCC GSI staff in the Root Cause Analysis of Binding Constraints, which includes both (i) root cause analysis and (ii) development of high-level project concepts.
  • Develop GESI-specific products and tools as requested by MCC.
  • Assist in coordinating activities across the GESI team; identify key informants for primary research; coordinate and organize primary data collection meetings.
  • Work with a team of international and national technical, research, and sector specialists.
Qualifications
  • At least 5 years expertise in inclusive growth concepts and approaches.
  • Experience working with MCC on gender and social inclusion issues preferred.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in developing and implementing new and innovative frameworks, methodologies, and tools to identify and analyze barriers to inclusive growth and the impact of these barriers on women, youth, and other vulnerable groups, and their access to productive workforce and entrepreneurship participation.
  • Strong skills in quantitative and qualitative data analysis and collection.
  • At least 5 years’ experience working with donors and governments on international development projects.
