LECTURER
The National University of Lesotho invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the position of a Lecturer in Translation and Interpreting in the Department of African Languages & Literature.
Minimum qualifications and requirements
The applicant must hold an MA degree in either Translation and/or Interpreting or African Languages and Linguistics with specialisation in either Translation and/or Interpreting. A major in Translation and Interpreting at undergraduate level and an acquisition of a PhD and/or evidence of the intention to pursue PhD in the aforementioned fields will be an added advantage. S/he should be able to teach: Language and Culture, Semantics, Morphology, Translation Theory and Practice, Lexicography, Terminology, Interpreting Theory and Practice, Modern Technology in Translation, Editing, and Research Methods and be able to supervise undergraduate projects.
Should be fluent and proficient in both English and Sesotho. A high level of fluency and/or basic knowledge in either isiZulu or Sign Language will be an added advantage. Should possess at least Two years teaching experience at tertiary level. A record of publication and participation in research would be necessary.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Teaching at undergraduate and;
- Participating in research programmes of the Department/Faculty;
- Supervision of students’ projects;
- Designing programmes and courses for undergraduate;
- Developing and promoting scholarly excursions;
- Promoting and strengthening academic linkage between the Department and other stakeholders;
- Initiating and implementing progressive strategies for the betterment of the Department;
- Performing other duties required by the Department.
- The incumbent will be expected to carry out the teaching and engage in academic citizenship.

Employment Type
Permanent and pensionable/gratuitable terms for Locals, and two Years’ Contract for Non-Locals
