Part-time Consultancy: Environmental and Social Safeguards Specialist

For the Economic Inclusion Program

Contracting Entity: Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Cathedral Area, Main North 1 Road, Maseru 0100, Lesotho

  •  Introduction
  • The Pathways to Sustainable Livelihoods Program is a 5-year intervention funded by the World Bank, aimed at improving the efficiency and equity of selected social assistance programs and to strengthen the livelihoods of poor and vulnerable households. The program is implemented by the Ministry of Gender, Youth and Social Development. CRS Lesotho is the prime recipient of the component 1A – Economic Inclusion Program (EIP) funding, with Caritas Lesotho, Dunamus Agri Advisory, and Doorways as sub-contractors. In consortium, the agencies will implement the EIP through the promotion of economic inclusion activities to achieve strengthened livelihoods in five selected community councils, namely: Tosing (Quthing), Thaba Mokhele (Mohale’s Hoek), Metsimaholo (Mafeteng), Phuthiatsana (Berea), and Bolahla (Leribe).

It is against this backdrop that the project requests the services of Environmental and Social Safeguards Specialist (ESS) to support the project implementation. The Environment and Social Safeguards Specialist will be responsible for management and mitigation of social and environmental impacts resulting from the implementation of the project, as well as for quality assurance of all processes across all project service areas.
