St Boniface High School - Maputsoe, Lesotho

Maputsoe in general has very few sport facilities for young people. There are not places where young people can entertain in healthy activities.

To build a basketball court has been the dream of no few past generations of teachers and students at St. Boniface High School.

Through the past years the students, young people of the Oratory and the Parish used to play just in a plain, muddy and dusty ground. This scene is part of our past as a “proper” basketball court has been built.

The building of the court has been through the join effort of students and teachers and donors. For more than a year the teachers and students engaged in cutting hair to students. Parents generously contributed as well as an envelope was sent to each family for a contribution.

through the Board of Management came into our help and top up what already was in the “bank” for that effort. The Parish Priest contributed too as the court serves the needs of the parish youth as well.

As we all know, life is very expensive and living in Lesotho is not the exception. At the end of this venture we still have some debts to pay to the school finance department which lent the balance to finish the project.
