REPORTS TO: Research Coordinator
Background:
The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation is a global leader in the fight against pediatric HIV and AIDS, working in 16 countries and at over 5,500 sites around the world to prevent the transmission of HIV to children and to help those already infected .With a growing global staff of over 1,000-nine of 10 who work in the field-the Foundation’s global mission is to implement comprehensive prevention ,care, and treatment; further advance innovative research ;and to executive strategic and targeted global advocacy activities to bring dramatic change to the lives of millions of women, children and families worldwide.
The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation (EGPAF)has worked in Lesotho since 2004 and with PEPFAR support, rapidly scaled up a district approach model for comprehensive HIV service delivery in all ten district and supported central-level activities in partnership with the MOH and local Civil Society Organization (CSOs).
JOB SUMMARY
- Become certified in human subjects’ ethics course.
- Attend an approximate one week of protocol overview training.
- Work in a professional manner and maintain good relationships with program facility staff and the District Health Team (DHMT).
- Participate in data collection at stipulated sites.
- Work with program team.
- Use the study data collection forms and logs to abstract data from clinic registers, forms, charts used in routine care of ART patients.
- Ensure the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of data collection activities
- Provide updates to the Coordinator on enrolment progress of study participants.
- Ensure accurate and complete recoding of study data.
- Ensure study data collection forms and logs are stored in lockable filling cabinets and that all study records are confidentially secured.
- Monitor the progress of study implementation activities and maintain records of study activities as required.
- Provide regular and timely updates to the study coordinator on progress and issues that impact implementation
- Maintain accurate files and records, both computerized and manual
- Perform other duties as required by the Public Health Evaluation Director and Research Manager.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery
- Registration with the Lesotho Nursing Council as a Nurse
- Previous research experience as well as experience with data collection desired
- Ability to pay attention to details
- Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying backgrounds
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Computer literacy
- Proficiency in English and Sesotho
